To all current and former SCNHL players;
As many of you know, Leo has stepped down as commissioner and will focus on school for the next season (at least). Which has brought the season full circle and back into my hands… sort of. I will be acting commissioner for the next season and possibly more, depending on how this goes. Like Leo did, and I before the rink erroneously handed the league to someone else (that “ran it” for one season) I have always put the players best interest as priority and will strive to continue doing the same as the season continues. The rink has a past of GM changes and deal breaks that are challenging for all to deal with, mainly you, the customer. I have met with the GM and expressed this as a major concern and we both agree to try to simplify the entire process and keep things moving smoothly from here forward. The current GM seems to be much easier to work with than those in the past (not counting Stone!). I will have more details involving the draft sent out to you guys shortly, first I would like feedback from the current team captains on what they do and don’t like about the drafting of teams and the way we try to even things up. We may have some room for change here and hopefully uniformity will be reached with all teams.
Which brings me to request #1; Captains, flood me with feedback as soon as you can so I can get my game plan together to propose to the rink. And request #2; Players, please also send me feedback good and bad so I can fight for the things that we want the most. In my last meeting I expressed our concerns over simple things like a clean shower/restroom areas as well as front desk staff having different answers/prices for the same questions. Request #3 is that everyone on Rob Ardoin’s team also get dreadlocks. I hope to help them get all there ducks in a row, so to speak. Sign-ups are indeed open now and for those who have trouble with the full price, or justifying it to significant others, they will still have the half/half option going with the second half automatically being drafted at a predetermined date. I have made the suggestion to the rink to set up monthly payment drafts for some to also ease the payment burden, like you guys; I love the game, but dread the price. More on the month to month stuff if it ever comes to life, currently we can only pay in full or half/half. If ANY of you can’t make that happen, please email me and we can talk about it.
Also, email me with all of your baggage requests! Even if you think I already know what players want to play with others, send it to me. I will do my best to honor all requests.
Without further ado…
Summer season will begin on June 8th
Early Bird registration ends on June 1st – 290 per player / 185 per goalie
Regular Registration begins on Thursday, June 2nd – 325 per player / 210 per goalie
You can call the rink and register, or you can sign up through the website here…
www.spacecityice.com/hockey/hockeyregistration.htm
They will be cracking down on USA hockey registrations also, so if you aren’t covered, you need to be.
For the day off, June 1st they will hold a 3 on 3 tournament
10 dollars per player or 40 per team
I did the 3 on 3 last time and it was a load of fun and MUCH MORE skating then I was accustomed! Consider yourself warned.
I also see a notice for a novice tournament June 17th – 19th
4 game guarantee
12 minute periods
Team fee – 1000 by may 1st / 1300 by June 10th
(not a bad price in my opinion… I have seen much worse)
I look forward to next season with all of you guys and hope we continue to grow and have fun. If you have any questions at all , please feel free to email me.
Regards,
Chris Quinn
