so are you saying that someone is going to end up beating the ever living crap out of Ovechkin?

My personal opinion is that Claud Lemeux was always more of a backstabber, get under your skin Avery like character. Also, I don't know if there is anybody like McCarty out there today.
On a different note, now Ovechkin sells tickets, he sells NHL, he makes new fans for hockey, etc. Three or four years down the road, is he going to be just as strong? Is he still going to be worth 10mil a year? As much as I like to hate Crosby, he will probably have more gas left in the tank.

Ovechkin's game is already starting to change. I think you will see less of the crazy hits in the future and that will help him stay healthy longer. Crosby has been somewhat injury prone w/out the crazy hits so I dunno about eithes players longevity (well obviously how could we)

Very true! Both of them are greaat for the game. My personal preference is still with an old school physical hockey. There is a reason Gretzky lasted so long, he never hit anybody in his life :-). At least Crosby does not get out of the way like some other flamingo-style players.

Crosby hits people, he just doesn't do the highlight reel checks. He doesn't finish checks after the puck is gone(typically), but he will use his body to remove you from the puck(like this), its just not as flashy as the Ovechkin checks. When Ovechkin is on the ice, you definitely have to have your head up, otherwise he's going to bury you. You don't really have that fear with Crosby. But... you mentioned Old School Hockey.. when I think of old school hockey I don't think of big hits.. I think of tough hockey(which includes fighting).. and Crosby has 4 fighting majors in the NHL, Ovechkin has... well none. Crosby is on pace for more than 20 fighting majors if he continues his current streak. I think of players like Gordie Howe(or currently Jarome Iginla)... and Crosby already has the coveted "Gordie Howe Hat trick" to his record. Now I'm not saying I consider Crosby a old school hockey player who fights a lot... but in comparison to Ovechkin, he's a better example imo. As for selling tickets... I totally agree about Ovechkin. He's flashy and that's what your casual fan (or non fan) will see and make them more interested in Hockey. I think Crosby and Ovechkin will still be going strong in 10 years...

If you had to pick, Howe tough or Larry Robinson tough? And speaking of Mr. Hockey, did you see him when he was playing here in Houston for the Aeros by chance? What was it like? I was only seven years old at the time.

I was only seven years old at the time. Nah that was before my time... I think my mom seen him play though, although she probably doesn't remember either. As for Larry Robinson or Gordie Howe, I don't really know much about Robinson(except what I wikipedia'd), so I can't really answer that...
