Calling all current and former OHL players it is time for registration again and this time the rink is going to reward you for signing up early. If you sign up before January 1st then you will get the early bird special of only $285 for skaters and $165 for goalies. If you sign up on January 1st or later the cost will be the regular new price for our league, $310 for skaters or $180 for goalies. In other words the price goes up when the year changes to 2010. If you need to make two payments for the season the payments will be $160 for skaters and $95 for goalies and the second payment will have to be made prior to the playoffs. Employees of the rink will need to talk with either Justin or Paul about playing in the league. We would like to close sign-ups on January 8th so please sign up early. If you would like to help to run the clock during the season to earn rink credit please talk with Steven. Be aware that this credit can be used for future seasons but not the current on!
For this upcoming season there will be jerseys that will be turned in at the end of each season (please make sure to turn in your current jersey).
The season will run from January 10th through April 18th. There will be no hockey on February 7th (Super Bowl Sunday) or April 4th (Easter).
Draft night will be on January 8th. If you are interested in being a captain please contact Steven or Tey.

Afterburners Winter 2010 Season Information
The Afterburners Winter 2009 Season will commence on Thursday, January 7, 2010. Depending upon how many players sign up, the season will run until Thursday, April 8, 2010, if we only have enough players sign up to make 4 teams, or Thursday, May 13, 2010, if we have enough players sign up to make 5 teams (one team will have a bye each week in the case of 5 teams). If we have enough players to make four full teams at 13 skaters per team but not enough to make five teams at 11 skaters per team, the last three players to sign up will go into a stand by ("vulture") pool to be assigned as vacancies occur based upon matching the skill level of the departing player. The same will hold if we have enough to make five full teams but not enough to make six teams. If after the first four weeks of the season it appears the teams are not competitively balanced, there will be some strategic player swaps among the teams to achieve that competitive balance to be implemented for week five.
Games will be played only on Thursdays at 9:30PM and 10:55PM until around mid March at which time the games will be played at 8:40PM and 9:45PM or close to those times. A current USA Hockey Registration is required in order to play. Games are played by USA Hockey rules. The cost for the season will be $270 for players and $150 for goalies if you sign up on or before December 31, 2009. After that the fees will be $320 for players and $175 for goalies. If you need to make two payments, the payments will be $165 and $80 for players and goalies respectively with the second payment due by week six (4 teams) or week eight (5 teams). Call the rink now at (281) 486-7979 to sign up before you get caught up in the holiday rush. To be included in the draft you will also need to send me a note letting me know that you have signed up as well as your 2009-10 USA Hockey Registration confirmation if I do not already have it. The player draft will be held on or before Tuesday, January 5, 2010. Rosters will be published by the Wednesday before the first game.
Afterburners Policy: Anyone involved in a fight or other types of unacceptable behavior during a game as determined by the Afterburners Board will be removed from the game and receive a two game suspension. To continue to play after the two game suspension will require the player to post a $100.00 bond. The bond will be held for one year and then returned if there are no further incidents; however, if there is an a second incident within that year, the bond will be forfeited and the player will be permanently suspended from the league

Hey Folks!
Its that time, yet again, to register for the upcoming season of the SCNHL. This season there will be a slight change. The current situation of 5 teams almost having 6 the schedule just isn't working with 11 games per season. With 5 teams it forces us to only play 10 games, with 6 teams it will drop us to 8 regular season games with 3 playoff rounds. So, we're increasing the season to 13 games. Sadly, cost of registration also had to increase to reflect the two additional game.
