Hello to all of you CLHS Falcons Ice Hockey Fans!
As you know, tommorrow night we start our quest for the State Championship against Plano West at 8:45 pm at the Frisco rink in Dallas. Yes, that same, classless team that robbed a fine group of Clear Lake players of a legitimate State Title last year. That won't happen again.
At practice tonight you could sense the mood that these guys are going to Dallas to PLAY. And now, thanks to the Worthens, we all have our war paint on our vehicles for the travel north.
Over the course of the weekend we will use this thread to keep everyone posted on our progress.
The team really appreciates all of the suppport and well wishes of the CLHS and BAHHA communities - that's what makes this such a great sport.
A sincere thanks on behalf of the CLHS Falcons Ice Hockey Team, Coach Dave GO FALCONS!!!

So you're the one who wrote: "Don't write on this car" Ryan thought that was hilarious...just wait until he has to clean it off!

Well, unfortunately bad news to report... we lost 3-0 to Plano West this evening in a very tough contest. It was an emotional game (as we knew it would be) but we didn't really bring it like we can. Plano played a very quick, physical game and got us on our heels with 1 goal on the second shift of the game and 2 goals in the second period. After a cut, the guys played the third to a 0-0 tie with a lot of quality chances but it was not to be. There was a ton of penalties on both sides of the ice but that was not the difference in the game. Nonetheless, despite the disappointment of tonight's game, I think that the Falcons will bring it for the next 2. It's a tough defeat for these guys but they will rebound and play with the class and ability that we know that they have. They are a special bunch of guys and the coaches feel quite priviliged to be a part of this team.
We now play the Round Rock team tommorrow at 2:45. I'll keep you posted.

Well...better news today. We beat the Round Rock team 2-1 this afternoon but again not our prettiest effort. We outshot them 32 to 6 (not counting all the times we hit their defensemen's shin pads!) but there are no prizes for how many times you can hit a goalie in the crest!
This sets us up for a rematch with the Woodlands for the Consolation Final tomorrow at 11:00 am. This is our rubber match so I hope that everyone comes to play.
I think last night's loss took a lot of wind out of our sails. But, as this is the last time many of these guys will play together, I really hope that they bring it all together. They deserve it.

Well deja-vu all over again. The Falcons fell to the Woodlands in the Consolation Final in overtime 4-3. We had some tremendous chances - 2 open nets! - but couldn't put it away.
It was actually quite a good game - pretty fast and clean and certainly not the crushing loss of last year. And...both teams ended it with class - none of the crap that we saw in the games before us with a lot of cheap stuff and poorly behaved fans. The coaches are really proud of the kids (and the parents!).
It was a good finish to a year filled with trials, injuries, etc.
Go Falcons!

Congrats Falcons to another stellar year! I know this past weekend was not how you wanted it to go, but you still represented the ISHL and Clear Lake High School with class, according to the coaches I talked to after the weekend. Keep your heads up.
Good luck to the seniors, where ever you decide to go to college (yes, college - remember alot of Texas colleges have club teams) keep in touch. I always look forward to hearing where the alumni Falcons are - regardless of whether they play hockey or not.
To the underclassmen (as I would tell every underclass each year) - words of wisdom, you have seen the tradition, you know the expectations are high for this program, you now carry the torch of the future for this program. Work hard this summer off the ice, get ready for next year. The program still has some unfinished work in Dallas. Good luck next year.
To the team Moms (Nancy Inbody and Kathy Ernst), you are finally retired. Thank you for all the hard work you did for me, you made it possible for the coaches to do their jobs better. ;D
And finally to the coaching staff - good job. I know the pressure you must have felt, I felt it every year with how much talent the program has. I just wanted to make sure they were given the recipe and then get out of their way to follow it. Good job and good luck.
Again Congrats Falcons! Falcons Hockey - Any Questions?!
